Day 1 London fashion week 2023
It was my first time at London Fashion Week and the catwalk show by Jeff Garner featured non-toxic plant-based textiles in what was an incredible start to London fashion week.

The show began with a violinist. While his documentary flashed across a projector screen at one end of the runway. Models walked out to the acoustic sounds of a live singer and musicians.

Exceptional creativity was on display with outfits that cleverly merge hippy, cowgirl, warrior princess and Regency! A standout feature on a number of Jeff Garners designs are carefully crafted angel wing sleeves.

To conclude his impressive show. Jeff  dedicated his non-toxic collection to his mother who had sadly passed due to cancer.

At closing, I snapped some street style pics from some incredible looking attendees. Guests who took the fashion crown on the night were those dressed in their own designs and those adorned in Jeff Garner fabulous autumn winter collection.

The Jeff Garner Prophetik Catwalk Location

Taking place between the bespoke shops of Burlington arcade. Jeff Garner Catwalk show guests were treated to an after hours show at Burlington gardens between the arches of this historic shopping destination.

Dating back over 200 years. The Burlington arcade is a retreat for upscale shopping. This gated location is secured by head beadle Mark Lord.

Mark Lord believes that Burlington Arcade is a microcosm of the city, a beacon of what international visitors acknowledge as quintessential England.

On each tour, those present are immersed in centuries of history and uncovering captivating facts such as the presence of Victorian stoves in its basement or the clandestine underground passageway which was used by shop boys to convey goods to customers’ carriages from where they were forbidden to remove them.

The Beadles were at first employed by Lord Cavendish's regiment as guards, and nowadays they are the most seasoned and smallest police force in Britain patrolling the arcade.

As Head Beadle, Mark Lord is unsurpassed in his expertise, taking visitors on a journey through time to its inception in 1819 - commissioned by the Earl of Burlington for his wife's shopping safety.

When strolling through the arcade, there is a palpable energy radiating from the shops. The establishment has its own distinct atmosphere that is palpable in every corner. - Mark Lord, Head Beadle

What is sustainable fashion?

What exactly is sustainable fashion? It goes beyond just wearing trendy clothes. Sustainable fashion is a movement that seeks to create clothing in an environmentally and socially responsible way. This means considering the entire lifecycle of a garment - from production to disposal.

One key aspect of sustainable fashion is using materials that have minimal impact on the environment, such as organic cotton or recycled fabrics. These materials are grown and produced without harmful chemicals, reducing pollution and promoting healthier ecosystems.

Another important element of sustainability in fashion is ethical manufacturing practices. This includes ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions, and respecting labor rights for all workers involved in the production process.

Sustainable fashion also encourages conscious consumption by promoting quality over quantity. Instead of buying cheaply made fast-fashion items that quickly end up in landfills, it emphasizes investing in durable pieces that can be worn for years to come.

Furthermore, sustainable fashion embraces recycling and upcycling as ways to reduce waste. By repurposing old garments or using recycled materials, designers can breathe new life into existing resources while minimizing their environmental footprint.

Sustainable fashion encompasses various principles aimed at reducing harm to the planet and creating a more equitable industry. It's about making thoughtful choices when it comes to what we wear – choices that align with our values and contribute positively to both people and the environment.

What are the benefits of sustainable fashion?

The benefits of sustainable fashion are numerous and far-reaching. One of the most important benefits is its positive impact on the environment. Sustainable fashion brands prioritize using organic, natural, and non-toxic materials that have a lesser impact on our planet compared to conventional fabrics.

By choosing sustainable fashion, you are supporting ethical practices in the industry. Many sustainable brands focus on fair trade and ensuring safe working conditions for their employees.

This means that workers receive fair wages for their labor and are not exposed to harmful chemicals or unsafe working conditions.

Sustainable fashion also promotes longevity and durability in clothing. Instead of following fast-fashion trends that result in clothes being quickly discarded, sustainable brands create timeless pieces that can be worn season after season.

Another benefit of sustainable fashion is its contribution to reducing waste. By utilizing recycled materials or upcycling old garments, these brands divert textiles from landfills and reduce overall waste production.

In addition to environmental and social benefits, opting for sustainable fashion can also be personally rewarding. Many people find joy in knowing they are making conscious choices about what they wear – choices that align with their values.

Embracing sustainable fashion allows us to make a positive difference both individually and collectively by promoting responsible consumption habits while still looking stylish!

How to shop for sustainable fashion

When it comes to shopping for sustainable fashion, there are a few key things to keep in mind. First and foremost, do your research. Look for brands that prioritize ethical practices and have transparent supply chains.

This way, you can ensure that the clothing you're purchasing is made with respect for both people and the planet.

Another important aspect of shopping sustainably is considering the materials used in the garments. Opt for organic or recycled fabrics whenever possible, as they have a lower environmental impact compared to synthetic materials like polyester or nylon.

It's also worth exploring secondhand options when shopping for sustainable fashion. Thrift stores, consignment shops, and online marketplaces offer a wide variety of pre-loved clothing at affordable prices.

Not only does buying secondhand help reduce waste, but it can also be an opportunity to find unique pieces that no one else has.

In addition to researching brands and materials, consider investing in timeless pieces that will last beyond just one season. Quality over quantity is key when building a sustainable wardrobe. Choose well-made items that are versatile and can be styled in different ways.

Don't forget about accessories! Sustainable fashion extends beyond clothing and includes jewelry, shoes, bags, and more. Look for accessories made from eco-friendly materials such as recycled metals or vegan leather alternatives.

By following these tips when shopping for sustainable fashion, you can make conscious choices that align with your values while still looking stylish and on-trend
