If you want to know how to enjoy your holiday, then it’s going, to begin with, knowing what you can and cannot pack. Unfortunately, many travelers have been in hot water simply for packing something they didn’t even know was not allowed. So, here are some things you should consider not packing for your upcoming vacation, whether domestic or international!

Too many pairs of shoes

Whether traveling by land, sea, or air, the right shoes can make all the difference. Having the correct footwear can prevent injuries and ensure a smooth ride. However, you’ll want to avoid packing too many pairs of shoes. They take up a lot of room, so instead, opt for no more than two pairs of shoes for your trip—may be a good sneaker for walking and a sandal that could be used for formal and beach wear.

Leave valuable jewelry or keepsakes behind

While you might be eager to pack up and go, the last thing you want is to leave your valuables at home. However, your valuables will be safer at home than during your travels. You never know if anything will be stolen from you during your trip. Plus, you also have to keep in mind that your bag could go missing. Whether it’s large amounts of cash or a laptop, it’s best to keep all these at home.

Don't bring jewelry

This ties into not bringing anything valuable, but you should also skip out on bringing jewelry too, this is especially apparent if it's precious. Many things can go wrong with traveling with jewelry. The first thing is that you should be prepared for theft. That means doing your research. For instance, you should know what your insurance will cover and how to pack. You should also be aware of the crime rates in the area you'll be visiting. However, you can skip this worry by not bringing valuable jewelry and packing and wearing something cheap, preferably under $100.

Leave all your keys at home

So, this heavily depends. If you’re someone who easily loses their keys or you’re worried about your luggage getting lost, you could give multiple keys to trusted friends, family, and neighbors. This doesn’t apply to everyone, but just thinking about it: you lose your keys during vacation, and then you’re stuck trying to get inside your car or trying to get inside your house. Who knows, maybe you only had no key for everything and no spare. This is just far from ideal and should be kept in mind.

Don't pack your own sheets and towels

Unless you’re staying at a hostel where it’s required, you don’t need to do this. So it’s ideal to skip out packing these, as nearly all hotels will provide bedding and towels.

Don't bring a blow dryer, curling iron, and straighter

In general, if you’re going on an international trip, you shouldn’t bother with packing all of these hair-related appliances. It technically goes for personal products that can be plugged in and don’t have a transformer or converter (something that laptops do have). So, it’s just best, in general, not to even bother packing these. If this is a domesticated trip, then sure, but if it’s international, it’s ideal to skip this entirely. However, there are some items, such as curlers, that can be wireless, so this could be an option.

Avoid containers of liquids

If you are planning to travel internationally, consider avoiding containers of liquids. While there is no absolute rule against carrying them in your checked bag, it is important to know what you can carry on your flight. You already know that the Transportation Security Administration or TSA has regulations and limitations for carrying liquids.

One of these is the 3-oz rule. Any avid traveler knows about this. However, when reaching a new country, there is a chance that they are going to want to see the large liquids you’re packing and why. This could result in you having to have custom taxes, something that’s far from ideal.

Prescriptions and medication

When it comes to medication, even supplements like Delta 9 THC Gummies, you can expect a challenge. If you’re traveling domestically, you can expect different laws and requirements. This is especially apparent when going abroad. Some items will not be allowed on a plane, in the country of a layover, or even in your destination country. Many countries have laws that ban certain medications.

For example, stimulant ADHD medications are banned in Japan. Others may be banned for their use as controlled substances. In other countries, attitudes toward mental and reproductive health can be negative. Even with a written prescription translated into the language of the country, you’re going may not matter. In general, do extensive research first.

Bottles of alcohol

If you are traveling internationally, it is important to know which bottles of alcohol you should not bring. Unlike other liquids, alcoholic beverages are regulated differently. In fact, you may not be able to carry them on a plane. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has strict rules on alcoholic liquids. Plus, some airlines have strict rules about this too.

E-cigarettes and vapes

Traveling with e-cigarettes and vapes can be dangerous and lead to fines and penalties. It is important to know the laws for your destination before you travel and follow the airline's policies when traveling with these devices. In fact, some are not even allowed on most airlines, even if it’s in your checked bag.

Some countries have banned the sale and use of vapes and e-cigarettes. Others have strict regulations for both. If you are traveling abroad, it is important to do your research before you travel. Before you board your plane, remove all batteries, mods, and vapes from your luggage. You will not be allowed to bring these items onto the aircraft.
