My experience at the lucky club

I had an amazing time at the lucky club and highly recommended an evening date or get together with friends during the winter over fondue.

I recently visited Lucky club in Camden for the first time. Sat at a cosy table for two inside their alpine lodge themed bar. I enjoyed some Adriatico cocktails along with bottomless fondue. Hot, molton cheese is paired with pickles, cornichons, potatoes and sourdough bread.

Amaretto
To drink, I enjoyed a delicious Toblerone martini from the lucky club specials cocktail menu. Featuring some delicious adriatico amaretto. Adriatico amaretto is made using only natural ingredients, adriatico is an award winning liqueur brand made in Puglia Italy from roasted almonds. While the pistachio cocktail at the lucky club contains adriatico bianco. Made with crushed white almonds.

The lucky club in Camden plays host to DJ's on Fridays and Saturday evenings with bottomless fondue. 50% off wine on Wednesdays when ordering food. On Mondays you can enjoy two margarita cocktails for the price of one all day and happy hour is from Sunday to Friday 5:00 p.m. to 7pm where there are two for one on selected cocktails.

As well as their fondue, which is a delicious blend of Cornish gouda and French gruyere  there is also dessert fondue of chocolate with marshmallows and fruit. If you're feeling festive you can even enjoy a festive burger and Christmas pudding, along with a selection of other sweet and savoury dishes.

Sundays at the lucky club play host to a unique gravy fondue. Where from 12-8pm you and your guests can feast on a fondue pot full of gravy - served with pig’s in blankets. Yorkshire puddings. Steamed broccoli & cauliflower florets and roasted new potatoes, perfect for dipping.

The History of Fondue

Step back in time and journey to the mountainous regions of Switzerland, where the roots of fondue can be traced. The word "fondue" comes from the French term "fondre," meaning to melt. This culinary tradition was born out of necessity, as Swiss villagers used melted cheese as a way to prevent food waste during harsh winter months.

Legend has it that fondue originated when Alpine herdsmen would melt their leftover cheeses with wine over an open fire. This hearty mixture provided sustenance during long winters in remote areas. As time went on, variations of this dish emerged, including meat fondues cooked in hot oil or broths.

Fondue gained international recognition in 1950s-1960s thanks to its popularity among tourists visiting Switzerland. It quickly became a social dining experience where friends and family gathered around a communal pot, dipping bread into bubbling cheese or skewering meats for cooking.

In recent years, fondue has transcended its humble origins and become a beloved staple at restaurants worldwide. London's vibrant food scene embraces this tradition with open arms, offering diverse options ranging from classic Swiss-style cheese fondues to indulgent chocolate creations that satisfy even the sweetest tooth.

Today, fondue continues to bring people together through shared experiences and tantalizing flavors. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply craving some comfort food on a chilly evening, there's no denying the timeless appeal of this melted masterpiece.

How to Make Your Own Fondue at Home

How to Make Your Own Fondue at Home

Making your own fondue at home is easier than you might think! With just a few simple ingredients and some basic equipment, you can create a delicious and satisfying fondue experience right in your own kitchen.

To start, you'll need a good quality cheese. Traditional Swiss fondue is made with Gruyère and Emmental cheeses, but feel free to experiment with different varieties to find your favorite combination. Grate the cheese and set it aside.

Next, prepare your pot or fondue set. If you don't have a dedicated fondue pot, you can use a heavy-bottomed saucepan or even a slow cooker. Just make sure it's large enough to hold all of the ingredients and has a heat source that allows for gentle heating.

Rub the inside of the pot with garlic to infuse it with flavor. Then add white wine and lemon juice to the pot and heat gently until hot but not boiling.

Gradually add the grated cheese to the pot, stirring constantly until melted and smooth. Be patient – this process can take some time! Once the cheese is fully melted, season with salt, pepper, nutmeg, or any other spices or herbs that tickle your taste buds.

Transfer your homemade fondue to its serving vessel – whether that's a traditional caquelon or simply another bowl – and gather around with friends or family for dipping fun! Provide an array of dipping food like bread cubes, steamed vegetables, and sliced meats for everyone to enjoy.

Now that you know how easy it is to make your own fondue at home, there's no reason not to indulge in this delightful dining experience whenever the mood strikes!

Tips for Enjoying a Fondue Experience

Tips for Enjoying a Fondue Experience

1. Choose the right cheese: When it comes to fondue, the cheese is everything. Opt for high-quality cheeses like Gruyère or Emmental that melt smoothly and have a rich flavor. Experiment with different combinations to find your favorite.

2. Prepare your dippers: Fondue is all about the dippers! Cut up an assortment of bread, vegetables, and fruits for dipping. Crusty baguette cubes, steamed broccoli florets, and crisp apple slices are just some of the options you can try.

3. Don't forget the wine: A glass of wine pairs perfectly with fondue and enhances its flavors. White wines like Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc complement cheesy fondues, while reds like Pinot Noir go well with meat fondues.

4. Keep it hot: Maintain a steady heat throughout your fondue experience by using a fondue pot or burner specifically designed for this purpose. This will ensure that your cheese stays melted and warm until every last bite.

5. Dip etiquette: Use long forks provided with each type of fondue to dip your goodies into the pot gently but securely – no double-dipping allowed! Swirl them around in the cheese or broth to coat them evenly before enjoying each delectable bite.

6. Pace yourself: Fondue is meant to be savored slowly over conversation and laughter, so take your time between bites instead of rushing through it all at once.

7. Try unique variations: While traditional Swiss-style cheese fondues are popular, don't be afraid to explore other variations such as chocolate fondue or even spicy chili-based dips if you're feeling adventurous!

Remember these tips when enjoying a fondue experience in London, and make sure to share this delightful culinary adventure with friends and loved ones!

Health Benefits of Eating Fondue

When it comes to indulgent and delicious dishes, fondue often takes the spotlight. But did you know that besides being a delectable treat, fondue can also have some surprising health benefits? That's right – this beloved Swiss creation can actually be good for you!

One of the main ingredients in most fondues is cheese. And while cheese may have a reputation for being high in fat and calories, it also contains important nutrients like calcium and protein. Calcium is crucial for maintaining strong bones and teeth, while protein helps to build and repair tissues.

Another health benefit of eating fondue is its potential to boost your immune system. Many traditional recipes include garlic or onions, both of which are known for their antibacterial properties. These ingredients can help fight off common infections and keep your immune system functioning at its best.

Additionally, dipping various vegetables into the bubbling pot of melted cheese or broth adds an extra dose of vitamins and minerals to your meal. Vegetables like broccoli, carrots, and mushrooms provide fiber, antioxidants, and other essential nutrients that contribute to overall well-being.

Furthermore, enjoying fondue as part of a social gathering can promote mental well-being by fostering connections with friends or family members. Sharing a communal pot encourages conversation and relaxation – two key components for reducing stress levels.

It's worth noting that moderation is key when indulging in fondue due to its higher calorie content. However, by choosing lean meats like chicken or turkey instead of fatty cuts like beef or pork for your meat fondues – along with incorporating plenty of fresh veggies – you can create a healthier dining experience without sacrificing taste.

So next time you're craving something cheesy and comforting, consider trying out a fondue recipe! Not only will you satisfy your taste buds but also potentially reap some unexpected health benefits along the way.
