Dinner At Chakra

My Chakra Kensington Experience

Indian restaurant Chakra recently re-opened in a new location in classy Kensington. I thought I'd take my mum to go check it out before she jetted off to sunny Tobago.

Chakra is a semi-casual fine dining Indian food restaurant that's cozy and great for date nights. Outdoor seating is available for warm days. The menu at Chakra is pretty extensive, with meat, seafood and vegetarian starters.

I arrived with my heart set on trying the blue cheese naan bread at Chakra, as I love naan bread and blue cheese makes for such a unique twist to an Indian favourite. The naan bread arrived warm and soft, with just the right amount of blue cheese in the center. Giving a subtle, delicious taste.

As we were seated, water and fresh, complimentary mini poppadoms with a tamarind dip arrived for us to nibble on.

For starters at Chakra, I ordered the grilled asparagus with roasted cumin, sesame paste and sweet potato mash. Mum had the avocado spheres with curry leaves and tamarind chutney.

I love asparagus anyway and enjoyed the non typical way in which the asparagus at Chakra was presented to us - coated in sesame seeds. It was delicious with a mild, refreshing flavour.

We shared out our mains amongst each other. Ordering two rice dishes - the broad bean pulao with dill and roasted cumin and a lamb biryani with saffron and crispy onions.

The lamb biryani is fresh and fragrant with tasty crispy onions and tender lamb pieces.

We ordered three meat choices. The clay oven black cod with saffron and samphire. Tandoori gressingham duck breast with orange and spices and our favourite - the grilled chicken korma.

The grilled chicken korma at chakra is the most perfect korma ever! Slightly sweet. Slightly tangy. Tender chunks of chicken in a thick orange curry.

Desserts were Indian mess with saffron cream and chocolate soil with mint, chocolate stones and ice cream. I wasn't a fan of dessert, but the mains more than made up for it.

What Was Amazing?
